B
ergen Børs is a hotel with a strong sense of
place, where history is not displayed behind glass
but woven into everyday experience. Bergen’s
former 19th century stock exchange carries the
gravitas of commerce and confidence, now
softened by Scandinavian restraint. Original
vaults, boardrooms and soaring arched windows
sit comfortably alongside walnut panelling,
leather, marble and finely judged lighting. The
interiors whisper rather than shout. Pinstripes,
herringbone parquet and tailored textiles subtly
echo the suited traders who once filled the halls,
while a calm, unified palette stitches three very
different buildings into one seamless whole. The
Frescohallen, crowned by Axel Revold’s monumental murals, feels quietly theatrical, transforming from breakfast hall to evening dining room.
Elsewhere, Speilbaren glows with reflections, and
the Michelin starred BARE delivers precision and
elegance on the plate.
